“Imelda May thinks inside the box with poetry behind glass walls at Latitude festival”
The Times

Staged within its own emotive ‘exploded’ environment ‘HALLOWED’ - a unique immersive and participatory Performance Art project and installation conceived and ‘inhabited’ by established musical artist IMELDA MAY, enjoyed a hugely successful WORLD PREMIERE at this year’s LATITUDE FESTIVAL.
Featuring impactful sound and visual design by collaborating artists DOM JONES & LUKE LOSEY, IMELDA’S project – a collaboration between IMELDA and Creative Director AMI CADILLAC and co-produced by LAVISH DESIGN - is representative of the mental & emotional barriers that an artist has to push themselves through during the challenging time of giving birth and forming new ideas.
More often identified by her powerful dulcet voice & musical work as a songwriter, ‘HALLOWED’ is at its heart a connective exploration of IMELDA’S creative writing process, as well as a multi-sensory journey through her life experiences and observations.
This honest and brave live piece by IMELDA - reflects the personal struggles, conflicts & vulnerability of an Artist during their creative process usually in solace and hidden behind the walls of their own very private space. During the piece participants were not just welcomed in to observe Imelda completing her debut book of poems or crafting lyrics for her forthcoming album, they also spent time within the space when Imelda was not present, encouraged to put down their own words and expressions on paper to become a part of the overall piece.
Look our for the HALLOWED TOUR in 2020 - dates and locations to follow soon!

Lavish were delighted to be a part of the 90th Birthday celebrations of the legendary DECCA Records staged at the V&A in the Spring. Audiences were treated by Decca to live performances by cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Rhys Lewis and a great set by R6's Tom Ravenscroft. There were also screenings of rare Bowie videos and a pop up vintage fair created by Lavish, as well as a PAVAROTTI exhibition for which we had the great pleasure of handling one of Pavarotti’s famous tuxedo's which he performed in! Also on display were two of Pavarotti's legendary tropical shirts, hats, signed handkerchiefs, even some of his own art works and other rare memorabilia - which we went on to recreate at BAFTA in a second exhibition for the premiere of the film PAVAROTTI.
Other commissions for environmental designs and Lavish scenic art direction this year include projects for the BARBICAN, REDBULL and ACTION AID

Ever heard of the RURAL REVIVALIST and PEOPLES KING - RICHARD BOOTH who passed away peacefully this August? In these dark times of political, economical and environmental crisis we want to draw focus to RICHARD BOOTHS extraordinary accomplishments, ones that turned the declining rural borderline town of HAY ON WYE into the WORLDS FIRST BOOKTOWN in the late 70's. Paving the way for the likes of the Hay Festival and the huge success and international fame that the small town enjoys today. HAY's self proclaimed KING declared 'HOME RULE' for Hay in the 1970's fighting away big business and helping the locals, many of which were were unemployed at the time - to set up their own second hand bookshops and independent businesses of which can still be seen thriving in HAY today. Richard's INDEPENDENT KINGDOM and the HAY of today is still refreshingly free from the likes of Costa and Mc Donalds thanks to him!
So for some proof of what can be achieved through creative action and support of your local community please look up the anarchist book King, and great inspiration of ours - Long Live the legacy of dear KING RICHARD BOOTH!
