PERFORMANCE FOR THE KING OF QATAR
LAVISH recently returned from the majestic desert peninsula of Qatar on the Arabian Gulf where they were invited to collaborate with ground breaking international event producers WRG to create a spectacular show for their grand inauguration event for Qatar Gas.
The production of this multimedia cross cultural performance was attended by a plethora of VIP guests from the state of Qatar including his royal highness the Emir of Qatar as well as Chinese officials and World Press.
The Emir of Qatar opened the televised show by striking a giant gong which triggered a host of colourful graphic effects that appeared to awaken the performers into dramatic action.
Incorporating the world largest musion screen with live performance and music, spectacular multi-media effects seemed to spring out of the artists instruments and limbs spiralling around them creating a hyper-real world in which they performed within.
Lavish commissioned world famous Joji Hirota (musical director for The Lindsay Kemp Dance Co, co- composer for the Royal Shakespeare Company) to compose a unique fusion drumming piece for the show. The audience was treated to a dynamic rendition performed live by his Japanese Taiko group Hiten Ryu Daiko and Qatar’s famous Pearl drumming group.
Lavish also commissioned the award winning dance troupe, Jilin dance Company who travelled from China to perform live in front of the captive audience, a spectacular ribbon dance staged in front of a stunning filmic backdrop – a lyrical way of reflecting the Asian and Middle Eastern business alliance.
Lavish is delighted that WRG appreciated their work just as much as we have appreciated theirs “WRG would like to sincerely thank you for your role in the Laffan Refinery inauguration event. Throughout the whole process you have been fantastic, from finding us brilliant performers to always being such a reliable point of contact in some of the more trying of times! Your hard work, flexibility and professionalism onsite were also greatly appreciated and without which we wouldn’t have had such a fantastic opening sequence. The ribbon dance performance was equally amazing and both performances received lots of praise from all in attendance. It was an absolute pleasure to meet and work with you and will hopefully be working with you in the future.”
Lavish would like to thank WGR for these kind words and look very much forward to working with WRG again in the future.

GOLDIEROCKS HARVEY NICHOLS
Following the success of last year’s grand opening of the Harvey Nichols' Cabot Circus Store in Bristol, where guests were treated to the glamorous and sultry wonders of Dita Von Teese, and the divinely theatrical tones of The Irrepressibles, Lavish are once again delighted to provide a little circus with a twist for this year's 1st Anniversary event, on the 23rd Sept.
DJ Goldirocks - Queen of electro-Indie, will be just one of the glittering acts performing at the exclusive event, but hush hush - we’re not allowed to give too much away..!

LATITUDE 2009 –IS A SELL OUT SUCCESS!
“Words cannot express my gratitude; I can only say thanks for the marvellous creative input of Ami & the Lavish team.”
Melvin Benn, Managing Director Festival Republic & creator of the Latitude Festival.
"The site is stunning. It's certainly the most picturesque festival I've ever been too"
Telegraph.co.uk
“The curators are to be applauded for offering something complex and contemplative in the midst of the noisy, crowded festival.”
ARTINFO – Outdoor art in London
This year Lavish have once again returned from another incredibly successful Latitude Festival. With tickets selling out months in advance it promised to be a fantastic weekend, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
For the fourth year running, Lavish were responsible for the Festival’s iconic look; the multi-colored sheep; the theatrical facades and decor for six main arena tents; and the overall integration of multiple artistic platforms into a single extraordinary experience. They also extend their hand to that of curator of the Open Art exhibition and to that of creator of multifunctional 'Lavish Drawing Lounge' – a wonderfully surreal drawing room tucked away ‘In The Woods’.
During the course of the festival, ‘The Lavish Lounge’ ran through a series of transformations as it switched from mini-stage where bands like Evi Vine, Yeah Sparrow & Fat 45 played intimate, acoustic numbers to the setting for a number of provocative discussions as part of the Lavish organised In Conversation With Artists series.
Hosting these lively conversations was Arts commentator Louise Gray, a London based writer and editor whose articles on music and contemporary art has appeared in a variety of broadsheets and magazines, including The Wire, The Independent, The Guardian, Art Review and New Internationalist. Also on the panel was Deputy Editor of The Wire magazine, Anne Hilde Neset and writer and curator for the Tate Modern, Ben Bothwick.
“Anne, Ben and I had a wonderful time and can't wait to do it again. It all felt really special”
Louise Gray.
This year Lavish also produced a host of bespoke performances, such as 'La Reve' which opened the festival in spectacular style; the breathtaking Music of the Spheres and their otherworldly, giant floating bubbles; and the striking Irrepressibles performing their Baroque inspired Human Music Box routine every evening of the festival, following a critically acclaimed premiere at the V&A in June.
Keep your eyes peeled for a full write up on our Case Studies page, along with photos from the festival!

Premier of The HUMAN MUSIC BOX – enjoyed by thousands this summer!
Presented by Latitude Festival and realised in collaboration with Lavish, The Irrepressibles performance orchestra premiered their re-interpretation of Baroque fantasy and sound, The Human Music Box this June as part of the V&A’s prestigious 2009 Baroque Exhibition Style in the Age of Magnificence.
The Irrepressibles sell-out performance headlined an evening that also included a Baroque tour courtesy of the flamboyant Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, the Wimbledon College of Art modelling extravagant Baroque-inspired costume, Chris Green as Professor Baroque Obama and a stunning Baroque Ball.
Following its success at the V&A, the six by six metre Human Music Box then magically reappeared, floating on a picturesque lake for 3 nights during this year’s groundbreaking Latitude Festival between 16th and 19th July 2009.
